Step-by-Step: How to Wash a Synthetic Medical Wig

Rinse thoroughly. Hold the wig under cool running water until all shampoo is removed. Always rinse in the direction of the hair flow.
Condition. Apply a small amount of wig conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends. Leave for 1–2 minutes, then rinse. For human hair wigs, a leave-in conditioner or mousse can help with manageability.
Pat dry — never rub. Gently press the wig between a soft towel to remove excess water. Rubbing causes frizz and tangles.
Air dry on a wig stand. Place the wig on a stand and allow it to air dry completely before wearing or styling. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Caring for a Human Hair Medical Wig

Human hair wigs require a bit more attention but reward you with a more natural look and greater styling versatility. Follow the same steps above, but you can use lukewarm water and a gentle sulfate-free shampoo.
